The Morgan County high school golf teams had a pair of events last week including a home match against Oconee County which the teams split, with the girls falling to the Warriors and the boys taking the win. Then on Thursday, the teams faced Ola and Union Grove and the boys came home with the one-stroke win.

At the Oconee County match, the low scorer for the Lady Bulldogs was Clark Carroll who shot a 55 and the boys team was led by Landon Breedlove’s 38. The final scores in the match were Oconee County with a 142 against Morgan County’s 177 for the girls. The Bulldogs shot a team score of 165 to the Oconee County 179 on the boys side.

Thursday, the teams traveled to McDonough to face Ola and Union Grove at Georgia National Country Club. The boys golf team showed growth as they closed out the season and won by one stroke. MCHS shot a 180 while Union Grove shot a 181 and Ola a 188. Landon Breedlove and Noah Brown were the low scorers for the Dogs both shooting a 43. Jared Sanders shot a 46 on the day. Due to the number of competitors, the girls team scores were not reported but Lily Baker led the way for MCHS shooting at 58.

The Lady Dogs travel to the Okefenokee Course in Waycross on Tuesday for their sectional tournament. The boys will play at Lakeview Golf Course in Blackshear on Friday for their sectional tournament.
