DEAR EDITOR:

Mr. Johnson’s column of Dec. 29 shined the spotlight on the many areas of the Biden administration during 2021 that are concerning to all of us. However , he failed to mention another event in 2021 that should also be a concern for all of us.

I am referring to the failed attempt on Jan. 6 to prevent the electoral count for President. What we experienced was an attempt to overturn an election certified by ALL the governors of this country.

That effort continues to this day by undermining our confidence in the electoral process. Make no mistake about it; that effort is being led by President Trump and his loyal followers.

What makes our country great is the tradition of fair elections and the peaceful transfer of power. Jan. 6 and the continuing refusal to accept an election’s result is a stain on our Republic and threatens principles that have guided this country since 1776.

When money and power dictate our morals and principles, we are in trouble.

Bob Baldwin,

Madison
