A juvenile told police that after he awoke in his Micha Way residence Friday, two figures in the dark took $300 and the keys to his car before leaving in the teen’s Mercury Sable.
According to Madison Police Department reports, the teen told officers that at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, he awoke and observed a 14-year-old male known to him and another teen in his bedroom. The victim said the two suspects allegedly asked him who else was in the house and where money and the keys to the car were located. The victim, reports state, said the older suspect kept “holding his waistband as if he might have a weapon.”
The two then left and, the victim said, took approximately $300 from a dresser drawer and another $100 from the Sable. The Sable was located at 3:15 a.m. by Madison Police Department officers at Orchard Grove Apartments, less than a mile from the site of the robbery.
According to Det. Andre Johnson, Madison Police Department, the 14-year-old male’s mother produced him at the Madison Police Department the afternoon of Sept. 10 after Johnson showed the mother video of the incident including the two leaving the residence after the robbery.
Johnson said authorities shared the video with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and an officer with the DJJ identified the 14-year-old. The arrest violated the juvenile’s probation, Johnson said, and he has been remanded to the Youth Detention Center in Watkinsville for 30 days.
White Plains’ Qyderious “Ju Ju” Jernigan was arrested on Sept. 14 walking with two other teens on Micha Way, Johnson said. Johnson said the police department had been alerted that Jernigan and other teens had left a Budget Inn motel room and were walking towards Ingles. Johnson responded and detained Jernigan.
Both the juvenile and Jernigan have been charged with theft by taking, robbery and burglary, Johnson said.
