An alleged road rage incident ended when Morgan County and Putnam County authorities were able to identify and stop a Cadillac involved with one driver pointing a gun at another driver.
According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Jadrius Keanu Elder, 22, Athens, was arrested and charged with pointing a gun at another after the black Cadillac sedan driven by Elder was stopped by an Eatonton Police Department officer at approximately 7 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 441 south and Glenwood Springs Road.
A 35-year-old man told officers that after he pulled off Interstate 20 at the 114 exit and turned south onto U.S. 441 he noticed the Cadillac approaching him “at a high rate of speed.” The man said he pulled his vehicle in the left hand lane to avoid being struck by the Cadillac and as the Cadillac passed him, the man alleged, the driver put the window down and pointed a black hand gun at him. The man described the Cadillac driver as a black male with dread locks.
Reports state that an Eatonton Police Department officer located a black handgun in the passenger seat of the Cadillac, Elder denied any knowledge of pointing the pistol, reports state, and said he had never put his windows down.
A deputy noted that the windows were heavily tinted and questioned Elder on how the complainant would have been able to describe him and the handgun if the windows had remained up. The black Ruger P89DC was confiscated. The Cadillac was left on the road, per Elder’s request, so a relative could retrieve the vehicle later.
Elder was then transported to the Morgan County Detention Center without incident.
