On Dec. 22, a tractor trailer fire on Highway 441 near Plantation Road required units from five Morgan County stations to get under control. No injuries were sustained during the fire.
Morgan County Fire and Rescue (MCFR) units from Station 1 (Apalachee), Station 2 (Central), Station 3 (Bostwick) Station 4 (Buckhead) and Station 16 (Headquarters) worked the scene. After the tractor trailer, a truck from J.B. Hunt carrying loads of insulation, caught fire, responders battled the resistant flames on the side of the highway.
“We were able to get most of the fire out, but it was full of insulation,” said a statement from the Buckhead Volunteer Fire Department. “Chancey’s brought some equipment and flipped it over so they could get the rest out. We stood by on scene to make sure there was no more fire. No one was injured.”
