The Season is upon us Morgan County! Thanksgiving is incredibly just one week away! Holiday shopping has already begun for many families and our mailboxes are becoming full of catalogs from online retailers of every stripe. And, therein my friends lies the opportunity. Instead of shopping online from a far-away retail conglomerate, why not shop where it counts? Local.  It truly counts. In fact, our diverse collection of retail shops in Morgan County depends on it.

Shop local. It’s not a challenge . . . it’s not a hassle. Instead, Shopping Local is flat fun! I’m not kidding! Since when did you shop online and actually touch, feel or try on an item before you clicked a buy button? Never! Since when did you shop online and have a friend who works at the clothing store make a perfect recommendation for you or your family member? NEVER! Since when did you shop online and take in amazing Christmas decorations, festive refreshments and greetings from your friends? NEVER!

Shop local. It’s more than a catchy phrase. It’s a way of life! Just like the farm-to-table movement has swept across the nation, so too has the movement to support your local economy. From retail, restaurants and spas to accountants, insurance companies and builders, doing business locally keeps our local economic engine revved up!

So let’s do this!

Madison Main Street’s SHOP, SIP & STROLL is this Saturday, Nov. 17 and this great event is going to be a local shopper’s Holiday Dream! We have more than 20 retail and restaurant businesses participating with Holiday Open House events, refreshments and libations, special guests, giveaways as well as special markdowns and discounts! There will be Holiday characters strolling about, Holiday and music too! Shopping local has never been this much fun and that’s a fact! Y’all check out the list of retail partners in this week’s Shop, Sip & Stroll ad to plan your shopping extravaganza!

Don’t forget to check out the newest additions to downtown Madison: Society Hall and Emacity on West Washington Street across from Town Park!

I’ll see all y’all this weekend in Madison and Rutledge!
