Our Governor may have denied his constituents the benefits that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would bring to Medicaid, but just as every other American in the United States, each of us Georgians now can buy great health insurance at amazingly low rates through the ACA’s Health Insurance Marketplace.
On Tuesday, millions of Americans began comparison shopping for a variety of quality, affordable plans that will best meet their health care needs. Out of every 10 people who do not have health insurance today, six will be able to get coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace for less than $100 per month.
Well-trained folks called “Navigators” are available all over the state to help us with this new process. The Morgan County Democratic Party plans to invite a Navigator to Madison in November. All interested will be invited. In the meantime, check out the very user-friendly ACA website at www.healthcare.gov. With very simple questions, you will be pointed toward the ACA insurance companies and plans best for you and your family. If you enroll before December 15, and you will be covered starting January 1, 2014.
Over the next few weeks this column will clearly describe the benefits of the Affordable Healthcare Act. Finally the ability to take responsibility for one’s own healthcare is within reach of so many more working Americans.
