Chamber of Commerce’s annual fundraiser, Taste of Madison, which was held at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center Hall on March 13, was a huge success this year, according to Chamber of Commerce President Bob Hughes.

“We had a great turn out that exceeded all of our expectations. There was a ton of fabulous food and a good time was had by all,” said Hughes. Each year, local restaurants gather to provide samples of their best menu items. Music and a silent auction were also featured at this year’s event. Tickets for the event cost $20 per adult and $10 for children between the ages of four through 12.

This year’s vendors included: Coca-Cola, Town 220, Chick-Fil-A, Ricardo’s Kouzzina, Amici, Pizza Hut, The Caboose, The Caboose- Madison, Steak N Shake, Scoops, Big Kev’s BBQ, Madison Chophouse Grille, Mitcham Farms, Yesterday Café, The Chowder House, Bonner’s, Bake Rattle and Roll, La Fonda, That Pizza Place and Wal-Mart.

This year’s sponsor’s included: WDDK/Dock 103.9, Bank of Madison, Rema Tip Top, Madison Markets, Alliance Corrugated, Morgan County Citizen, Central Georgia EMC, Mannington Mills, Madison Car Care, Jones Ewing Dobbs and Tamplin, Georgia Power, Jim Boyd & Associates, Great Estates Landscaping and Flambeau. Madison Mayor Fred Perriman attended the event to show his support for the chamber and for all of Madison.

“Taste of Madison is a wonderful event,” said Perriman. “This is what Madison is all about: getting together and snacking together,” joked Perriman.

“This is the kind of event that makes Madison what it is.” City Council Member Chris Hodges was impressed with the packed crowd. “It’s so great to have all these people come here to support Madison and the chamber,” said Hodges.

The vendors were glad to introduce more of the community to their specialty foods. “We just moved here last year, and we think this event is a lot of fun and great for the business,” said Sabrina Shan, a waitress for Town 220. “We love being a part of this,” said Brandie Owens, a hostess for Yesterday’s Cafe, as she served the company’s infamous pies that have even been featured on Good Morning America.
