During Wednesday Night Bible Study Pastor Terrell discussed two of the main men in the New Testament named John.

The first one was the Apostle John who was also the brother of the Apostle James. He was a pillar in the early church (Galatians 2:9) and known for the impartation of the Holy Spirit to new converts (Acts 8:14-17). Also, he wrote the Gospel of John, three epistles (I John, 2 John and 3 John) and the Book of Revelation. As a part of his writings, he included much about John the Baptist who was the other John that we focused on in the class.

John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus Christ. He was chosen by God Himself and was not an ordinary man (John 1:6). He was the son of Zechariah, the temple priest (Luke 1:5) and the son of Elizabeth the daughter of Aaron. This proves that John the Baptist came from a priestly lineage on both sides of his family. He often preached on the final judgment and repentance.

Obviously, there is much, much more written about these great men and this is just a sampling of the class notes. To learn more, read your Bible and join us on Wednesday nights!

Pastor Robert Terrell’s sermon on Sunday gave us all the answer to knowing if the church that you are in is where God wants you to worship. He led us to Genesis 22: 1-12 and gave us the three P’s of place, people and position to explain.

One of the most significant parts of worship is your offering. In the text, Abraham was instructed where to go which was on one of the mountains in the land of Moriah. When you get to your place of worship, God will let you know. There will be no doubt in your mind that this is where God will provide for you.

As Abraham went on his journey some young men went with him and his son, however they could only go so far. Similarly, you can’t take everybody with you to your place of worship. The men in this passage had to stay in a certain place and not go to the intimate place of worship. You will have a connection, which the right people placed around you.

To further explain his points, Pastor Terrell brought out a “Shadow and Type” which is found in verse six. Abraham is like God and Isaac is like Jesus. Isaac carried his cross up the hill like Jesus did. There will be times in your life when you will have to carry your burden, but God will be with you! When you are at the right place with the right people, God will provide. You may not be able to do it alone, but God will do it! He will provide that thing for you that you simply can’t.

Guess what? Abraham passed the test! The Lord said to him, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son, from Me.” Don’t forsake your worship. You need your breakthrough! Don’t let the enemy trick you! Be in your place of worship!

Pastor Terrell ended his message to the church telling us that God will provide when you are in your specified place, around specified people in your specified position with your offering in order. Your provisions come from having the right order of worship! Glory Be To God!
