The Originals, a spin-off of The CW’s popular Vampire Diaries series, has been filming in Madison over the summer delighting Morgan County fans. Much of the filming has taken place at Oak House, owned by Pat and Natalie Reems, located in the center of Madison’s Historic District. Set in New Orleans, The Originals centers around the world’s original vampires Klaus played by Joseph Morgan, Elijah played by Daniel Gillies and Rebekah played by Claire Holt. The trio plans to take back New Orleans – the city they created. But wait: Hayley, a werewolf played by Phoebe Tonkin, is pregnant with Klaus’ child who will be the first hybrid – part vampire and part werewolf and there is no telling what drama will unfold.

The Madison filming ushered in scores of actors, extras, film crew members, production equipment and nighttime screams and werewolf howls. The new series premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 after the premiere of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday Oct. 3 and again on Tuesday Oct. 8 (its regular time slot) at 8 p.m.
