Ray Knight, 84 of Rutledge, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born in Covington on July 2, 1929 to the late A. K. and Elizabeth Huff Knight. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later served Morgan County as a Sheriff’s Deputy for many years. He also farmed as long as his health permitted. He enjoyed time spent on a John Deere tractor. Mr. Knight loved the outdoors. He also liked to hunt, fish and ride horses. He was a family man and adored his grandchildren. He was a member of Centennial Baptist Church.
Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Stephens Knight. He also leaves three children, Jane Hicks and Sollie of Peachtree City, Steve Knight and Ginny of Rutledge and Ricky Knight and Cindy of Rutledge; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Betty Clinton of Conyers. He was preceded in death by a son Mike Knight.
The family received friends Saturday from 5 – 7 p.m. at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Centennial Baptist Church. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
