Hazel Brown, 79 of Madison, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. She was born June 24, 1934 in Buckhead. She was one of 10 children born to Homer and Ella Jackson Parker. She was a member of the Madison Pentecostal Church. She loved her church and church family.
Mrs. Brown was a wife, mother and homemaker who personified everything good about those roles.
She was an example to all and always shared God and His love with anyone she met. Whether through the music that she loved, her contagious sense of humor or her quick wit she always put a smile on many faces in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Tony Brown and her siblings Clyde Parker, Herman Parker, Ozelle Meeler and Edith Parker. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Tom, her son Greg Brown and Krista and their children, Griffin and Eliza Haze of Canton; a daughter Chris Rice and Ray and children Amber, Lacy and Tom all of LaGrange; grandsons Josh, Israel, Zach and Parker Brown; sisters Pauline Douglas and Inez Smith and brothers Joe B. Parker, Norman Parker and Eugene Parker and nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family of Mrs. Brown has been blessed in recent years with wonderful caregivers.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to Cynthia Vessel, Evelyn Cureton, Bessie Smith, Annie Benton and others for their love and care.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Thursday, Jan 23 in the chapel. Interment will follow at Brownwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Danny Smith, Rev. Lawrence Adams and Brother Raymond Robinson will officiate at the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. A. E. Carter Funeral Home had care of arrangements.
