Col. Eugene A. Moore, 77 of Newborn, died November 30, 2013. He was born March 21, 1936 to William Aubrey Moore and Mary Em Florence Moore. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He continued his service in the Air Force, retiring after 30 years. He also served as Executive Vice President of Georgia Military College from 1990 to 1999. He enjoyed working outdoors and life in the country after retirement. He was a member of Pennington United Methodist Church. Col. Moore was preceded in death by his wife Helen Elizabeth Parker. He later married Carol Ann Fears in 1998. Col. Moore is survived by his wife Carol Ann Fears Moore and his children Bill Moore and Lisa of Clovis, New Mexico and Dave Moore and Connie of Chanhassen, Minn.; step children Clay Fears and Beth and Cheryl Walsh and Tom; siblings Annette Stephens and Wesley, Margie Barker and William Moore and Bubs; grandchildren Chris Moore, Marc Moore, McKayla Fears, Madison Fears, Katie Byer and Jared, Jonathon Walsh and Maggie Walsh. The family received friends Monday, Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A. e. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Pennington United Methodist Church. Interment followed at the church cemetery. A. E. Carter Funeral Home had care of arrangements.
