The Morgan County High School (MCHS) competition cheerleading team participated in their first meet last Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Grayson High School in Loganville.

Out of the three AAA teams in attendance, the MCHS team placed third, but Competition Cheerleading Coach Christen Seabolt said that the purpose of the meets leading up to the regional meet is to prepare the team for the regional meet.

“We were all in all very proud of our performance from Saturday,” began Coach Seabolt. “As to be expected, there were some things from the judges that we need to work on. That is why we attend these competitions: to continue to grow, improve, and prepare for region and state.”

Seabolt noted that several errors during their routine led to the low placement during the meet.

“We had several deductions for a stunt that fell and illegal misplacement of hands during a stunt. These are both things we will fix and be ready for our performance next Saturday in Milledgeville,” said Seabolt, already looking toward the next week’s competition.

“I am very proud of the girls’ focus, determination, and team support that was shown this past weekend.”

This Saturday, Sept. 28, the MCHS competition cheerleading team will travel to Milledgeville for a meet to be held at the Georgia College & State University.
