The Morgan County Mite (ages 9-10) All-Star team swept opponents from Greene and Putnam counties last week, earning them a spot in the 2013 Georgia Park and Recreation Association state championship, which will take place in Screvens County July 11-13.

Last Monday, the Morgan County team beat Greene County 12-6 in its first game in their playoff bid. They beat Putnam County Tuesday evening 12-4 before again beating Greene County 6-1 on Wednesday to seal their state tournament invitation.

Coaches Daniel Laughlin and Mark Holloway will accompany the team to Screvens County, where 15 games in total will take place during the three days of the tournament. Should the Morgan County team make it to the last round of the double-elimination bracket, the final game will take place July 13 at 1 p.m.
