The Sixth Annual Morgan County Touchdown Club Golf Tournament, held in memory of Bill Cochran, Jr., is set to take place next Friday, July 18, at the Creek at Hard Labor. The registration deadline for the tournament, which offers several entry and sponsorship levels, is Thursday, July 10. The flyer for the tournament states that the Morgan County Touchdown Club is made up of a group of “parents, community members, elected officers, and coaching staff.”
The main purpose for the organization is to build support and increase funding for the Morgan County football programs. Fund raised by the Touchdown Club go directly toward enabling the organization to be “able to provided our players with the benefits needed to compete against other top programs as assigned by the GHSA.” Warmup for the tournament will begin with registration at 11 a.m. on July 18, followed by a boxed lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a shotgun start a 1 p.m. An awards ceremony and recognition of the Birdie and Eagle sponsors will be held following completion of the tournament.
Awards will be given based on the first, second, and third place finishers for the gross and net scores, closest to the pin on all par three holes, and longest drive. There will also be door prizes given out. Single players can sign up for the tournament for $75, and groups of four for $300. Par sponsorships are $400, which include a foursome and a sponsor sign at one of the holes.
At $450, Birdie Sponsors receive a foursome, a hole sponsor sign, their company name in the 2014 football program, company recognition at the first home game, and their name listed on the $100 level of the Century Club board at Bill Corry Stadium. Eagle Sponsors, $550, receive all of the benefits of the Birdie Sponsors, including recognition on the $250 level of the Century Club Board.
