By Nick Nunn staff writer The Morgan County High School (MCHS) competition cheerleading team took third place in the region competition this past Saturday, Nov. 9, at Putnam County High School to advance to the state sectionals competition, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 15, in Columbus.

“This past Saturday, we completed our best performance of the season,” said MCHS Cheerleading Coach Denise Frost. “All of our stunts hit.” Morgan County placed third behind North Oconee and Oconee County High Schools for the third place finish, and those teams, along with the fourth-place finisher, East Jackson, will advance to the state sectionals.

The state sectionals competition will take place at the Columbus Civic Center, and, if Morgan County places among the top 16 teams in AAA on Friday, they will advance to compete again the next day, Nov. 16, for a chance to win the state competition.

“We are looking forward to state,” continued Frost. “We will be leaving Thursday afternoon and traveling to Columbus. Please congratulate any of these young ladies if you see them this week.”
