A Morgan County deputy discovered the deceased body of a white male in the backseat of a Ford Bronco on Interstate 20 Tuesday morning.
The man, according to Capt. Chris Bish, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division, died from a single gun shot.
Bish said a 9mm pistol was located in the 1996 Bronco. The vehicle was locked and the windows were rolled up, Bish said.
The 56-year-old male, Bish said, appears to have taken his own life. “All evidence indicates it’s a self-inflicted gunshot at this point,” Bish said. On Tuesday afternoon Bish said that authorities identified the man as James Larry Dunham, of Winder.
Bish said several motorists reported a disabled vehicle off the eastbound lane on Interstate 20 near the 126 mile marker at the Morgan County-Greene County line.
Bish said a deputy arrived to investigate the vehicle at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Bish said the body would be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for an autopsy, but he said currently no foul play is expected. Bish said an initial investigation showed that the man had recently been evicted from his Winder home and was supposedly relocating to Alabama.
