On March 8 an animal complaint was filed at a Penor Street location. According to reports, a woman at Morgan Memorial Hospital alleged that a neighbor’s Chihuahua mix dog had come onto her property and bit and scratcher her 10-year-old son. The dog was surrendered to Madison Animal Control. On March 8 Donald Swain, Jr. , 25, Madison, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass. According to reports, an officer allegedly observed Swain driving a grey Buick from the parking lot of Madison Villas apartment complex.

Reports state that the officer was aware that Swain had been banned from the property. Swain was then arrested and transported to the Morgan County Detention Center.

On March 7 Stephanie Marie Parker, 35, Greensboro, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. According to reports, Parker was allegedly observed placing several items in her jacket pockets while she was at the self-checkout area. Reports state that Parker told authorities that she had intended on paying for the $69 worth of items.

On February 3 a larceny complaint was filed at a Micha Way location. According to reports, a woman said an unidentified black male had attempted to use her debit card to deposit a fraudulent $400 check into her account and then withdraw $400 from the same account. Reports state that the man was unsuccessful in getting the money but bank officials stated that the same person had successfully defrauded another customer with the same method. The victim said her granddaughter told her she had given the bank card to the man who had told her he needed it to cash a check. The man also allegedly told the granddaughter if she would give him the card he would give her money. The complainant also said she had written her personal identification number (PIN) on the back of the card.

On March 9 Otis Jay Turner, 34, Madison, was arrested and charged with interference of a business. According to reports, officers were called to McDonald’s restaurant, Eatonton Highway, regarding a man yelling at a woman and child. Reports state that when an officer arrived he located Turner in the lobby of the Hampton Inn. The officer said Turner , when confronted, made a reference to Jesus and refused to move. The officer said he gave Turner the option of going home or going to jail and Turner, after making another reference to Jesus, chose to go to jail.

On March 6 a theft complaint was filed at the Chevron station, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a man said that someone had removed a $3,500 U-Haul car hauler from the lot. On March 4 Bianca Levett Keeley, 23, Madison was cited for shoplifting. According to reports, Keeley allegedly took clothing items from a Dollar General store, Eatonton Road, without paying for the items.

On March 4 a counterfeit complaint was filed at McDonald’s restaurant, Eatonton Road. According to reports, an employee said an older white male attempted to pay for an order at the drive-through with a counterfeit $10 bill. The employee said when he questioned the man the man paid for the items with a debit card. The bill was retained by the employee and given to police.

On March 4 a fraud complaint was filed at an East Jefferson Street location. According to reports, a 62-year-old man said that when he attempted to begin collecting Social Security benefits, he was told by the Social Security administration that he owed $16,000 in back taxes for 2001 and 2002. The complainant said he had not filed taxes those years and that he had not earned $29,000 during that year, as was claimed on a tax form.
