Dorothy Bowie Stewart, 94, of Madison, formerly of Stone Mountain, died at home June 22, 2013 under the care of St. Mary’s Hospice. She was born in Willimantic, Connecticut on January 19, 1919 to Alexander G. and Laura L. Bowie. A veteran of World War II she served as an Operating Room Nurse in the Army Nurse Corps with the 39th General Hospital in the Pacific Theater from November 1942 until the end of the war in 1945.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son Charles W. (Chuck) Stewart Jr. and his wife Christine A. Stewart of Madison; her sisters-in-law Jacqueline Stewart of Atlanta, Elizabeth Stewart Clement of Alexandria, Virginia, Alice Bowie of West Warwick, Rhode Island and a brother-in-law Col. Richards O. Stewart of Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. (Wally) Stewart formerly of Stone Mountain and her daughter Mary Elizabeth Stewart.
