A Madison woman is facing aggravated assault and cruelty to children charges after she allegedly pulled a shotgun on her live–in boyfriend and threatened to shoot the man. Trista Langford, was arrested without incident on Friday, July 4 at approximately 3 p.m.by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Derrick Reid after a 9-year-old male child in the Oak Lane residence called 911 to report that his mother had a shotgun. An 11–year-old male and 3–year-old male child were also in the house at the time of the incident.
Reports state that Langford and her boyfriend engaged in an argument regarding Langford’s two children eating in the living room. Reports state that Langford told the deputy that the boyfriend allows his son to “get away with everything and she was tired of it.” Langford told the deputy that during the argument she walked into a bedroom and retrieved a shotgun “with the intent of shooting (the boyfriend),” reports state. The boyfriend ran into the wood line behind the house and Langford said she followed the boyfriend outside and paced in the back yard with the gun. The boyfriend told the deputy that he did not want to press charges, however, Langford was charged with aggravated assault and three counts of cruelty to children in the second degree.
