The Buckhead city council discussed the town’s playground at its regular meeting Monday. In previous meetings the city council has been working to decide on how to pay for the improvements to the playground.

The Mayor presented the idea that they should aim to have a bottom line number in terms of cost by January or February in order to get started on the project by spring. Another item on the old business list was the building of a new well. In previous meetings the council has examined different quotes on building the well. However, the council is still undecided on who will build the well.

“We need to get to the bottom of this so we can get started,” said Mayor Ricky Walker. At Monday’s meeting the council looked at the states quotes again and are waiting on an independent contractors quote. The council decided to leave the well to be discussed at a future meeting.

The flooding and drainage issue around the firehouse was also discussed and is being left for discussion in the future. The meeting then transitioned to a discussion about the upcoming Christmas tree lighting. This year’s Buckhead tree lighting will be held under the gazebo on December 1 at 6 p.m. An artificial tree will be decorated and used. A trailer will be pulled up next to the gazebo and Santa will be on the trailer.

A local business Gotta Be Rolling will donate Danishes and there will be cookies and hot chocolate. Although, the middle school jazz band will not be performing this year many local church choirs are scheduled to perform. The fire department will be decorating the town for Christmas on Nov. 23.
