The city of Buckhead is gearing up for their annual festival, Old Buckhead Days. The festival will take place on Saturday, Apr. 5 and will feature “The Real Buckhead 5k Road Race,” a parade through town, live music, face painting, food, bingo, and a three-legged race.

“We look forward to this event every year. I just want to thank the council for all their hard work in putting this thing together,” said Ricky Walker, mayor of Buckhead. The logo for the festival’s t-shirts this was designed by Morgan County High School (MCHS) Student Courtland Nation, 17, who is involved in the AP art program at MCHS.

The council has raised about $2500 so far for the event: $1900 in sponsorships, $500 in runner registrations, and $155 from vendors. There is still time to get involved in Old Buckhead Days 2014. To enter the 5k race, which will kick off the festival at 8:30a.m., you can register at www.active.com. It’s $20 to register prior to the race and $25 the day of the race.

The parade will begin at 10a.m. at Buckhead Baptist Church, located at 1061 Parks Mill Road. To participate in the parade, contact Buckhead City Clerk Cheryl Saffold by March 30. Saffold can be reached at: 706-342-6636. All proceeds will go toward improvements to the Buckhead’s Townpark Playground.
