Sunday morning attendance was good for the worship service. Some members are still on vacation and others are out due to sickness and jobs. Our prayers go out to each one. We welcome our visitors, as they are faithful to come each week and bless us with their presence. James Harold Smith opened the service with prayer. The congregation sang, “Great is the Lord.” Saturday our One Day Vacation Bible School went well. Several children and adults were present. During our worship service Sunday we had the commencement service for the VBS. The teachers and leaders marched in with the children. Bro. Ron led the congregation in pledges to the flags and Bible, then explained the theme, which was “Growing in Jesus,” using Bible verses and posters as well as flowerpots made by the children. He then led the children as they sang songs with motions they had learned. He had a message using colored circles of paper, talking about being saved. 1. Black represents our heart before we’re saved, black is the reference to sin in the Bible; 2. Red represents the blood Jesus shed for us while dying on the cross; 3.

White represents clean heart, never get to heaven without a clean heart; 4. Blue represents water for baptism, the water doesn’t save us but being baptized is a testimony of our being saved, accepting Jesus as our Saviour; 5. Green represents us growing in Jesus by reading the Bible, letting God talk to us and praying as we talk to God and coming to church; 6. Yellow represents Heaven, a bright and beautiful place. To know more about what Heaven is like read the Book of Revelations. After the service we all went outside with air filled balloons with scripture on a card attached to each of the balloons and let them go they were out of sight in no time, there was a good breeze. Sunday night at 6 p.m. we had a song service by the congregation, individuals, quartets and pianists. A good attendance for this. Next Sunday night, July 20, Brownwood will have their regular quarterly conference at 6 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Looking ahead to Saturday, July 26 a work day will be held at Brownwood Baptist beginning at 8 a.m. Homecoming Day will be Sunday, August 3 at Brownwood Baptist Church. Rev. James Ashe will bring the morning message. A covered dish meal will be held in the Family Life Center following the service. There will be no evening service. Margie Ward visited Mary Jo Collins at Magnolia House Senior Living in Conyers Wednesday afternoon. Please continue to pray for Mary Jo. Saturday, July 12 my oldest sister Laurene Hopkins had her 93rd birthday. We all celebrated at the Varsity in Athens, her favorite place. Edward’s Chapel Baptist Church in Athens was the scene Saturday afternoon of a baby shower for Roxie Failyer. She received many nice and useful gifts. Margie Ward was among many attending.
