Jimmy Malcom
Submitted by editor on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 18:36.Jimmy Malcom, age 67 of Loganville, died March 16, 2013. He was born in Rutledge on August 8, 1945 to the late Emory Lewis Malcom and the late Annie Lou Jones Malcom. He proudly served his country in the US Navy, and he also worked at General Motors for almost 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Faye Ellington Malcom.
Surviving are: Daughter and son-in-law: Hope Malcom Skinner and Lee Skinner of Loganville; grandchildren: Caleb Skinner and Natalee Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday March 19 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral with the Rev. Chad Gordon officiating. Interment followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Please sign the guestbook online at www.meadowsfuneralhomeinc.com

Charles Clark Whittaker

Charles Clark Whittaker, 78, passed away on February 25, 2013 at his residence in Bostwick. Mr. Whittaker was born August 8, 1934 to Mae Fambrough Whittaker and Harry Whittaker. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Whittaker, mother, father and brothers, Harry and Meigs Whittaker.
Lieutenant Whittaker proudly served his country for 21 years in the United States Navy. He retired after 40 plus years of service from Atlanta and Pet Dairies.
Mr. Whittaker is survived by his wife, Jeri. He is also survived by nephews, Greg Whittaker (Susan), Brant Whittaker, John Whittaker (Pam), Zachary Alexander, niece, Georgeanne Carter (Mike) and a number of great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request anyone wishing to make donations please donate to Noah’s Ark, 712-G Griffin Road, Locust Grove, GA 30238-4317 in memory of Mr. Whittaker.

C.L. Straughan, Jr.
Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/14/2013 - 17:44.C.L. Straughan, Jr., beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away March 8, 2013. He was cared for in his home in Stone Mountain by his devoted wife of 48 years, Mary Ferrell Straughan. He was born in Walkertown, North Carolina on May 30, 1937, to Cora Opal Straughan and C.L Straughan, Sr. The family moved to Atlanta in 1947. He graduated from South West DeKalb High School in 1955 and from The University of Georgia in 1960 where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. C.L. enjoyed a long and successful career in real estate. During his lifetime, he was a friend to many, known for his sense of humor, wit, and happy disposition. His greatest passions were family, friends, travel, fishing, Ponte Vedra Beach Florida, Georgia Football and Golf. He grew up playing golf at East Lake Country Club and played in the National Amateur in 1955. He was a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth, and a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ferrell Straughan, Stone Mountain, two daughters Jill Straughan Carter, Madison, and Jan Ferrell Straughan, Stone Mountain, brothers Jerry Swain Straughan (Ann), Jacksonville Beach, FL, Ronald Eugene Straughan (Nancy), Marietta, grandchildren Bailey Middleton Carter and Mary Wilson Munnerlyn Carter, nieces and nephews, Jerry Swain Straughan, Jr. (Hope), John Brent Straughan (Heidi), David Andrew Carter (Jinny), Branen Wade Straughan (Katie), numerous grand-nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

Bruce P. Farris
Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/14/2013 - 17:43.Bruce P. Farris, 84, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 30 at Sugar Creek Volunteer Fire Department off Parks Mill Road, at 2 p.m.
Mr. Farris was a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa and had made his home in Eatonton. He was the son of the late Preston Farris and Julia Magruder Farris. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, and was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving our country in Korea.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ackerman Farris of Eatonton; sons Jeffrey (Karen) Farris of Acworth, Daniel Farris of Roswell, and Cary Farris of Hillboro; sister Mary (Richard) Davis of Ohio; and brother James Farris of Indiana.

Stephen Marlow
Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/07/2013 - 18:42.Stephen Marlow, 23, died February 25, 2013. He was born November 24, 1989 in Winder. His parents were Jimmy Marlow and Polly Porter. He worked as a landscaper.
Mr. Marlow is survived by Kristy Williams and two children, Mackenzie Williams and Hayden Marlow; his parents and grandparents, Richard Porter and Trudie Marlow; his siblings, Steven Landes, Joshua Motes (Sammy), Seleeta Landes, Robin Motes, Samuel Smith, James Haygood Jr., Austin Motes, Montavius Reed, Matthew Williams, Levi Long and Danielle Mull. He was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Brown and Sanjay Kar, grandmother Gracie Porter and grandfather Raymond Marlow.
The family received friends Saturday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. at Almand Cemetery.
