Gerald Franklin Gilbert, 65, of Bostwick died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 10, 2009. He was born November 25, 1943 in Morgan County to Harold and Margaret Allen Gilbert. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School, where he was a standout player on the football team. He was married on October 21, 1967 to Mary Alice Bramlett. They made their home in Bostwick and Mr.

Doris Simmons Tomes, 61, died Friday, January 29, 2009 in Athens Regional Hospital. She was born August 2, 1947 to the late Joel Simmons Sr. and Frances Ingram.
She was a member of McHughes Hill Baptist Church. She served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. She was also a graduate nurse and worked as a registered nurse.

Martha Julia Hollis, 70, of Social Circle, died Monday, February 2, 2009.
Mrs. Hollis loved antiques and enjoyed working at her booth at the antique mall in Social Circle.

Nancy Furman Hogard Ahl, 64, of Rutledge died February 8, 2009.  She was born August 7, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to Andrew and Ellen Day Furman. She received a Masters Degree and was a teacher. She was retired from the Henry County Board of Education. She was married to James W. Ahl on December 8, 1993. The Ahls lived in Jonesboro until moving to Rutledge three years ago. Mrs.

Sandra Karl, 71, of Madison died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Abby Hospice, Social Circle after fighting a long seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was cremated with a memorial service planned for 11 a.m. February 14 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Madison.
