Elisabeth (Betty) Jane (McIntosh) Davis
September 1927 to June 2009

Elisabeth (Betty) Jane (McIntosh) Davis of Roswell died peacefully on  June 17, 2009 at Metropolitan Hospice in Marietta following a short illness. She was born and raised in Anniston, Ala., and graduated from Anniston High School. She enjoyed reading, camping, and was an avid gardener. Her many years spent as a homemaker provided many interesting chapters in her life’s journey. She was a graduate of the Georgia Realtors Institute, and worked  many years as an agent with Northside Realty. She touched the lives of many people with her love of family, her exceptional cooking, and her wonderfully fun parties. She maintained her quirky sense of humor all the way to the end.

She was one of three children born to the late Robert and Mary Ferguson and was the beloved wife of the late Major James Davis, U.S. Army. Betty will forever be remembered by her devoted brother Kenon Ferguson; beloved children Jim Davis, Jr. and his wife Joy; John McIntosh and his wife Donna; Tracy McIntosh and his wife Kesa; treasured grandchildren Kathryn James, Kelly, Steven, Lauren, Sean, Kaelan McIntosh, Cecily Dennis, Eythan Holladay and two great grandchildren Jonathan and Meagan Parrish. She was preceded in death by her brother Alvis Robert Ferguson and her two daughters, Mary Deborah James and Ramona Elisabeth McIntosh. Friends and family were invited to attend a memorial service held on Tuesday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 1210 Wooten Lake Road, Kennesaw, GA 30144, (770) 422-9114. Barbara S. Derricho, 64, died June 11, 2009. She was born December 9, 1944 to the late George and Olivia Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar E. Derrocho Sr. who died in 1962. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Willie Eva Cody, Louise Williams and Bertha Mae Hawkins and three brothers, Josh Smith, George Smith Jr., and Samuel Smith.

She is survived by her two children, Angela O. Derricho of Shady Dale and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar (Yalanda) Derricho Jr. of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bessie Clark of Bostwick, Annie Harris of Atlanta, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Gladys) Jones of Monroe; three brothers, John Smith and Freddie Smith of Atlanta, and Mr. and Mrs. James (Shirley) Edwards of Madison; mother-in-law, Julia Mae Derricho of Shady Dale, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a special niece and nephew, Brenda and Terry Hawkins, a close cousin, Clarence White, a close friend, Charles Swain and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Baker and Pastor Nicholas Curry officiating.  Interment was in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flower girls were her nieces and pallbearers were her nephews.

Mapp-Gilmore Pyramid Funeral Services, LLC was in charge of arrangements.

Wade Waller Sr., “Granddaddy”, 95, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He was born June 27, 1913 to Charlie and Delia Waller in Eatonton. He was a member of Morgan County Church of Christ where he attended until his health failed. Mr. Waller was retired from Georgia Power Harlem Branch in Milledgeville.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Jay Waller, one brother Joe (Willie Mae) Waller of Eatonton; three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death; two daughters, Alice Waller of Eatonton, and Gloria Farley of Valdosta; one son, Harold Harris of Eatonton; four foster daughters, Shirley Waymor and Sandy Lumpkin of Madison, Javonne Vencent (Wayne) of Austell and Mary Rivers of Minnesota; Tammy Lumpkin preceded him in death; a step-son Elton Gregory Tooten of Madison; a devoted and loving granddaughter Brekia (Dwight); two sisters-in-law Cealie E. (Harcourt) Morris and Leona (Paul) Hill, and a brother-in-law Harold Langston all of Miami, Florida, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at Morgan County Church of Christ with Brother Ruben T. Walker officiating. Interment was in Morgan County Church of Christ Cemetery
Flower attendants were family and friends and the Class of 1965.

Casket attendants were Dwight Reese, Gregory Tooten, Nathaniel Harris, Darrell Welch, Jacques Waymond and Jawond Davis.

Jones and Turner Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

Martha D. Huey, 85, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley and Rev. Bill Ingram officiating. Interment followed at Oak City Cemetery with her nephews serving as active pallbearers.

Bessie Kate (Mue) Grant, 89, died Saturday, May 23, 2009. She was born May 22, 1920 to David and Lela Williams. She was the ninth of 10 children.

Mrs. Grant was a wonderful florist, as well as a passionate childcare provider. She spent many years tending to the gardens and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and any other children that she came in contact with.

Clinton Royce Ervin, 70, of Auburn died May 20, 2009. He was born May 18, 2009 in Morgan County to Ralph and Lulu Mae Ervin. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School. Mr. Ervin was retired from General Motors. He was a musician; he enjoyed blue grass and gospel. He played guitar for several groups. He spent countless hours playing and singing at nursing homes.
