Johnnie Ronald (Ronnie) Pearson, of Monroe, died January 16, 2013. He was born in Rutledge, on November 15, 1946 to the late Sue Hawk Pearson, and the late Johnny Pearson.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret L. Pearson of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Sonny Fortner of Lawrenceville; stepson, Wayne McDaniel of Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Cheryl Pearson of Marietta; grandsons, Winston Pearson, Sam Fortner, and Taylor McDaniel.
A memorial service was held Saturday, January 19  at 11a.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Durden officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the National Kidney Foundation at the National Kidney Foundation Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street,  New York, NY 10016; or to the American Diabetes Association at 225 Peachtree St. NE, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Jack “Richard” Peters Jr., 56 of Madison, lost his year-long battle with cancer January 16, 2013. He was at home surrounded by his family.   
He was born August 15, 1956 to Jack Richard Peters Sr. and the late Helen Withrow Peters. He grew up in Rutledge. In November 1973 he joined the United States Navy and served in Beaufort, South Carolina until November 1977 when his enlistment ended. He then moved back to Madison.

He is survived by his wife of 27 1/2 years Denise Garrison Peters; two daughters, Sallie Jo Peters Lunzmann and Jim of Juliette and Amy Denise Peters Hollins and Ryan of Ames, Iowa; one grandson William Eric Peters and one soon-to-be granddaughter Delliah Elizabeth Hollins who is due February 20; father Jack Richard Peters Sr., Rutledge; sisters Linda Peters Smith and Donnie of Snellville and Denise Peters Perry and Brian of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Betty Garrison of Madison, sister and brother-in-law Lisa and Jimmy Bumgarner of Madison, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Peters.

Richard was a member of Beacon Heights Church and the American Legion.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at Beacon Heights Baptist Church. Officiating at the service was Rev. Steve Brown, Rev. Wayne Ghann and Matthew Smith, his nephew. Burial was at Madison Cemetery.

Anne Fitzpatrick Wallace Walker, 85, passed away peacefully at home January 16, 2013, following a short illness.
The daughter of the late Anne Douglas and Leonard Dewey Wallace, she was born in Madison February 6, 1927.  She attended local schools before continuing her education at Wesleyan College and The University of Georgia, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and graduated with a degree in Psychiatry.  After working in Atlanta with the Department of Social Services, she married the late Barrett Lamar Walker in 1949.
The Walkers resided in Richmond, Virginia, Glen Rock, New Jersey, Wheaton, Illinois, Lafayette, Louisiana and Tupelo, Mississippi before returning to Madison in 1986. The Walkers loved Madison and the family and friends who lived there and were eager to return for their retirement years.
In Madison, she was active in The Colonial Dames, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and Magnolia Garden Club.  She attended First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Anne Walker Sessions and her husband Steve of Advance, NC; a son, Barrett Lamar Walker, Jr. and his wife Kathi of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Ben Sessions and his wife Cristen of Winston Salem, NC, Kate Sessions of New York, NY, Jessica Walker of San Francisco, CA, Elizabeth Walker of Chicago, IL, and great-granddaughter, Vivian Sessions of Winston Salem, NC.  She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Adelaide and Graham Ponder of St. Simons Island, brother and sister- in -law William and Joanne Wallace of Decatur, brother, Leonard Wallace, and brother–in-law and sister-in-law Marshall and Marilyn Walker, all of Madison, and many dear nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Madison United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 26 at 11:30 a.m. A visitation with the family will be held at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m in the Gathering Area behind the Sanctuary.

Steffen Wolfgang Thomas, Jr., 78, loving father and husband, passed away unexpectedly January 8, 2013.  He was predeceased by his parents, Steffen Thomas, Sr. and Sara Thomas. 
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rives Thomas; daughters Susan Thomas Weibel and Lynn Thomas Tate; son-in-law Clay Weibel; grandchildren Jason, Drew and Anna Weibel and Jessica and Stephanie Tate; siblings Robin Thomas Burnett, Douglass Thomas and Lisa Thomas Conner. 
Service was held at A.E. Carter Funeral home, 1670 Atlanta Hwy, Madison, GA on Friday, January 11, at 2 p.m.  Visitation was held prior to the service at 11 a.m.

Henry Grady Long, 90 of Apalachee died Monday, January 14, 2013. He was the oldest of 15 children. He was born January 12, 1923 in Pickens County to Homer and Omie Moss Long. Mr. Long was married to Marion Alsobrooks Long who preceded him in death. He was retired from Westinghouse but also farmed for many years. He raised poultry, beef and catfish. He enjoyed hunting and many other outdoor activities. He liked to garden and eat what he raised. He loved his family and he will be missed.
Mr. Long is survived by his children, Nancy Humphries (Tommy) and Ronnie Long (Chris); four grandchildren Lisa Long Hawkins (Dusty), Keith Long (Deirdre), Michael Reid Long (Shannon) and Ginger Mae Strader (Darin); eight great-grandchildren and siblings J. B. Long, Robert Long, Earl Long, Leonard Long and Wanda Ann Landress.
The family received friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, Jan. 16. A memorial service was held at noon in the chapel of A. E. Carter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bob McBride, 85 of Madison, died January 12, 2013.  He was a native of Vidette, born March 23, 1927 to Robert and Mamie Jesup McBride.  He served in the United States Army for two years before going to work for the railroad.  Mr. McBride worked for 45 years for Norfolk Southern Railroad.  He was married to Frances Jackson on September 5, 1948.  They made their home in Madison where they raised their daughter, Vicky.  He was a long time member and deacon of Beacon Heights Baptist Church.  Mr. McBride enjoyed fishing and football.
Mr. McBride is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances McBride and their daughter, Vicky Quillian (John), two granddaughters, Susan Norris (Phillip) and Laura Bouknight (Jeremy) and a sister, Grace Sulken (Richard).
The family received friends Monday from 6 – 8pm at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the chapel.  Interment followed at Madison City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Conner, Bruce Conner, David Jackson, Brent Rhoades, Noel Hawk and Keith Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Jones, Richard Nunnally, Bobby Joe Hawk and Artis Peppers.
