Not surprised Democrats are “denying God’s omnipotence”
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 16:02.To the Editor:
While it is certainly not unusual to pick up the newspaper and find Mrs. Murray hurling insults at Congressman Broun, I must say that I was surprised at the tone of Mrs. Murray’s latest article. I guess coming from the political party that will “boo” God on a national stage, nothing from the Democrats should really surprise me.
When Jesus performed his first miracle and turned water into wine, what Mrs. Murray apparently fails to recognize, is that the world’s finest sommelier would not have been able to ascertain that the wine was only minutes old. If God were to “miracle” a fully mature oak tree in my front yard, the world’s best arborist would be willing to testify under oath that the tree was a hundred or more years old. To deny that God could have created the world in six (literal) days, yet make the world appear much older to all types of scientist, is to literally deny God’s omnipotence. Or perhaps it is to deny His very existence.
To ridicule Dr. Broun for his beliefs is shameful. To claim that Congressman Broun (an accomplished physician) is someone that would “deny basic science” is ignorant. To then attempt to make some correlation (if one can even call Mrs. Murray’s “leap” a correlation) between Dr. Broun’s beliefs/statements and the U.S. student rankings in math and science is so ridiculous and without any basis, that it is not worth a retort.

Average an “easier place to hide”
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 16:01.To The Editor:
Once again, we have the champion of average, Dave Belton, in an expanded column lecturing the taxpayers on everything from SAT test scores to denigrating those who listen to talk radio.
It is sad words like excellence or exceptional cannot legitimately be used in any description of our county public schools. I suppose average is a much easier place to hide.
Amazing Dave suggests those who maintain higher expectations than his reside in “ivory towers,” a term more likely to describe union workers like him and insulated public employees to whom average is good enough.
If this nation’s future depends on the sort of expectations Mr. Belton promulgates locally, that future is grim. I for one do not accept Belton as the arbiter of expectations and am confident I am not alone in my “ivory tower.”

Coulter “nasty, ugly-acting”
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 16:01.To the Editor:
Ann Coulter is the most nasty, ugly-acting and insulting political party representative that I recall hearing during this presidential campaign.
In television interviews and Tweets, Coulter has called the President and his campaign workers RETARDS, and she has refused to apologize for using the "R" word; instead SHE SAID "SCREW THEM."
John Stephens, a 30-year-old Special Olympics athlete with DOWN SYNDROME was recorded on radio saying how much Coulter hurt his feelings. Romney refuses to apologize for her nasty comments that INSULT MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.
Romney's top surrogate, Gov. Sununu, commented about Obama being black when Colin Powell, President Bush's Secretary of State, endorsed Obama. Col. Lawrence Winkerson, Powell's assistant during his work for Bush, and a white member of Romney's party, said during a television interview, how wrong Sununu was to make his racial comments, and he too was endorsing Obama.
All of this was recorded during television interviews.

Pray God’s blessings on America, but we must use our heads if we expect blessings
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 16:00.To the Editor:
II Chronicles 7: 14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.” We need a God-fearing president who believes in the one true God. I challenge all Christians to follow this scripture and pray for our country. We are at a turning point in our history. If we want freedom to survive we must vote to protect the working masses in this country. The government cannot be a dictator and democracy and survive. We pray God’s blessings on America but we must use our heads if we expect God to bless us!

Library thanks Roads & Bridges
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 15:59.To the Editor:
On behalf of the Morgan County Library Board, Manager Miriam Baker, and me, I want to thank Gregg Pennington, Wade Anderson, Ernest Smith and Justin Smith of Morgan County Roads and Bridges for doing a fantastic job of paving around the Traveling Musicians statue on the site of the Morgan County Library. This historic sculpture by Elbert Weinberg was a gift from Lenox Square. We moved it courtesy of donations from the Conrads Family Foundation and the Elbert Weinberg Foundation.
A new plaque telling the history of the sculptures has been affixed to the building. We invite your readers to come by and learn about the Critters, the Traveling Musicians, and Uncle Remus.
Thanks go to Commission Chair Ellen Warren and County Manager Michael Lamar for their cooperation on this project. They may soon tire of me and stop returning my phone calls. I just hope not too soon.
The Magnolia Garden Club and the City of Madison are also planning to enhance the Laughin’ Place Park.
The front of the library will be “beautified” by the Boxwood Garden Club with the generous assistance of Lowe’s Heroes.
Gregg and his crew will soon be placing engraved pavers with book titles and donors’ names in the park area. Yes, this is a shameless pitch for donors–not for raising funds–just to have community participation. Call 706-342-1206 for details.
However, the first engraved brick to be laid will feature a book title with “Morgan County Roads & Bridges Crew” engraved thereon.
Regards,
Steve W. Schaefer

“Keep your evil on a quart low!”
Submitted by editor on Fri, 11/02/2012 - 15:59.To the Editor:
Gorgeous gazebos are made for humans not hoarders. Actually I really appreciate that all elements are invited. Thanks! Good Rose A. The grass is fun, spongy, now! The sports complex will be completed December2012. When people do Rutledge wrong “Tommy Baby” makes powerful good changes. I’ll make sure that the “Choo-Choo” is protected. Now we all will be able to travel on. Things that I’ve accomplished are a new jail, two DA’s got replaced, built an Atkinson Museum at Indian Creek, a public school in Rutledge. I also wrote new technology and health care policies for the State of Georgia approved by Sonny Perdue and the USA approved by President Obama.
All of my research and patience got approved. I created jobs that you can get no matter your circumstance. I have no income or benefits, working for progress. I’m here to share what I’ve done with the community! I plan to get paid and wrap up multiple federal cases I’ve been working on from 2001-2012. Sometimes I have to protect my daughter’s heritage. Victorie and I still make 94 percent. It’s a family tradition. We create. We finish what we start. Don’t berate fame, money or women! The same woman got a promotion divorcing you! A few characters bought you out! Gloria Ford is my favorite character! Please keep your evil on a quart low! Facts and noses are multi-directional just like a well-played game.
