Hospital fund-raiser nets $40,000

Members of the Morgan Hospital Authority recognized the group’s Auxiliary Board at their regular meeting last Thursday, thanking them for the $40,000 raised for the hospital by the annual Festival of Friends on August 16.

Explorers train in Colorado

The week of July 21 to 25 members from the Sheriff’s Explorer Post attended the 2008 National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Fort Collins, Colorado. This year’s conference was attended by more than 3,500 Explorers representing law enforcement agencies from all 50 states, and Puerto Rico.

County continues review of conservation use

Morgan County Commissioners heard a presentation last week from a specialist regarding the evaluation of the fiscal impacts of land uses. Jeffrey Dorfman, of Dorfman Consulting, talked to the board about both the cost of county services and the currently controversial conservation use tax abatement program.
