Organizers ready for annual ‘Taste of Madison’ event

    Forgo lunch on Thursday, March 26, and save up for family fun and a fortuitous amount of local grub.  This time around, the 10th annual Taste of Madison promises to make you lick your lips in anticipation and say, “Yum!” when that first bite hits your tongue. 

Bostwick relocates old post office

    In the City of Bostwick, something is out of place.
    As of the beginning of February, the historic post office building is no longer nestled on private property, but resides on a previously unused plot behind the Masonic Lodge.

    Georgie Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine brought his Republican candidacy for governor to Morgan County last Thursday at the weekly Madison Kiwanis Club meeting.
    Oxendine, one of several announced Republican candidates for governor, pledged a leaner, efficient administration if elected.

    • On March 4 an identity theft complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that while she was attempting to complete her tax return, the IRS notified her that someone else had claimed her 16-year-old daughter as a dependent.

Buckhead man is arrested on child molestation charges

    A Buckhead man was arrested on Saturday, March 7 and charged with one count of child molestation after he allegedly attempted relations with a 10-year-old girl.

Morgan County Grand Jury hands down indictments

    The Morgan County Grand Jury met on Tuesday, March 3 at the Morgan County Courthouse. The following individuals were indicted on criminal charges.
    • William Espy, 32, Jonesboro, one count trafficking in marijuana.
