MMH shows profit

Despite certain operating expenses for the month of January, Morgan Memorial Hospital turned a profit for the sixth month in a row. At the hospital's Authority Board meeting last Thursday, Board Treasurer John Milliken reported that, without government contributions, the hospital accumulated a profit of over $50,000 for the month of January.

Morgan County commissioners approved text amendments to county ordinances that could allow future preservation districts to be set up in rural areas, if commissioners wished to do so.

It’s not the infamous Nigerian Letter Scam, says Sgt. Robert NeSmith, Investigations, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
But it’s close. And a lot scarier.
The latest e-mail scam to hit Morgan County involves a threat of death by a fictitious hit man. This week two Morgan County residents reported to authorities that they received the emails.

Morgan County’s District Five seat to be decided

After a month’s time, residents of Morgan County’s Fifth District will finally get their chance to elect a representative to the Board of Commissioners next week.
The Special Election Run-off between Democratic candidate Joyce Thomas and Republican candidate Sammy Cathey is slated for Tuesday, March 4 at the District 5 precincts. One of these candidates will fill the seat on the Board of Commissioners previously held by the late Chester Thomas.
