Chambliss takes Morgan

Although statewide results were not available  as of press time Tuesday night, in Morgan County it was Saxby Chambliss all the way, as the incumbent Republican United States Senator handily beat challenger Jim Martin with 69 percent of the  local vote.
    

Harris wins District 1 seat

The Morgan County Board of Elections on Thursday announced that Don Harris had won the District 1 Morgan County Board of Commissioners seat.
Harris, a Democrat, won the special election with 50.03 percent of the vote compared to Republican Ed Latham’s 34.47 percent and Democrat Zeke Lambert’s 15.5 percent.

Hometown heroes honored

More than a hundred local citizens turned out in front of the county courthouse at a mid-morning Veteran’s Day ceremony on Tuesday to honor those residents of Morgan County, past and present, that have served in the nation’s armed forces.

Senior citizens ask BOE for tax relief

On March 17 of this year, Lance Pailer presented a proposal that could exempt citizens over the age of 65 from the school portion of Morgan County's tax bill.

On Monday, Pailer reopened that discussion with the board.
