Get your workout clothes on y’all! Lord have mercy, Momma! Those tube socks are U-G-L-Y and where in the Sam Hill did you find those tacky green short shorts? You’ve gotta head over to Hibbett Sports at 1502 Eatonton Road in Madison right smack now and get you some new workout shorts, runnin’ shoes and socks! Perf!
Now that’s more like it! Ok ready? Cue Rocky theme song.
Yeah! Jumpin’ jacks are oh-so fun but I think 20 are plenty!
Now let’s do some runnin’ ‘round the block followed by some high steppin’ up the Morgan County Courthouse steps! Ok . . . I flat can’t breathe! Momma! Stop it with the faux boxin’ moves and help me find some water! Ding dang!
We’ve got a long way to go to get ready for the Madison Fitness Triathlon slated for Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009! But honey thank goodness Madison Fitness Center, owned by Greg Stewart, is gonna be hostin’ regular clinics led by our very own Morgan County citizens to help us get started! That’s right y’all! Folks like Rick Spence, a real live Iron Man competitor, triathlete Chanin Gill, Rodney Whitaker, runnin’ enthusiast Dan Newton, Usher Thomason and triathlete Jamie Miles will be on hand to whip us into triathlon shape so that we’ll be ready to do a 400-yard swim in the Morgan County Recreation Department’s brand spankin’ new pool, a 15-mile bike ride from Madison to Hard Labor Creek State Park and back, and a 5k or 3.2 mile run! Easy-peasy! Oh and it’s $55 to participate and the money goes to Young Life! Y’all contact Madison Fitness Center at 706-342-9200 for more info! Honey I am so gonna finish that Triathlon! Hey and Greg wanted me to remind y’all that Madison Fitness is a drop-off point for shoe repair! Just drop off your shoes and they’ll get all fixed up at Alps Shoe repair in Athens and sent right back to Madison! Love it!
Gone to Pig Plot! Come on y’all . . . let’s power walk up Main Street and see what’s shakin’! What the? Zeke Lambert’s done got the tractor out and he’s just a plowin’ up the front yard of the old Piggly Wiggly buildin’! That’s right y’all! Banker and part-time farmer Zeke with his partner Lee Nunn, garden extraordinaire June Harrell, David Hanes, Clifton Hanes and Luke Allgood and who knows who all else got together Saturday to get the community garden ready for plantin’! Chris Lambert, who refers to the community garden as the “pig plot,” told me it was truly a community effort! Here’s how it went down: Zeke was just a plowin’, then David donated a couple of truck loads of what Zeke calls Rooster Dirt (I think it’s sort of like pottin’ soil only better), then Clifton popped up on the scene and decided to borrow his daddy-in-law’s  tractor without his daddy-in-law knowin’ it . . . at least until he got caught! Well y’all they flat fixed that garden right up!
But, what I wanna know is . . . where can I buy me some of that Rooster Dirt!  Somebody’s flat gotta market that stuff!
A big thanks goes out to everyone who is helpin’ to make this happen, including all of our weekend farmers, the Madison Greenspace Commission, the City of Madison, Mike Hutchins who is donating the land and everyone who rented out a garden plot!
Antiques! Two more antique shops are open and/or are openin’ in downtown Madison! Pandamonium is open Wednesday through Saturday on West Washington Street in Madison between Barkin’ Dog Shoe Company and Whitley Land Surveying, Inc. Donna “Panda” Gumz is the shopkeeper! Y’all check it out! Hey and another shop Trinkets & Treasures is in the process of openin’ up on West Washington Street between Nuttin’ Nice Clothing and Melinda’s Alterations! I’ll keep you posted on when this new shop opens.
Hey y’all don’t forget the Concert on the Green this Thursday evenin’ behind Madison Markets and Town 220! I’ll see all y’all there!
That’s it for the Buzz on Biz! Y’all be real sweet and I’ll see all y’all next week: Same time.
