Gary Lemonds
Gary Lemonds, 61 of Social Circle, died January 8, 2009. He was born in Walton County on May 13, 1947 to Dorothy McDaniel Lemonds and the late Bryant Lemonds. He was a lifelong citizen of Walton County, real estate broker, and decorated Vietnam veteran. He was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame at Fort Benning in Columbus, and he was dedicated to his country and those who served. He was also the founder of the Ride for America Memorial Day Parade, started in 1999.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-law Kimberly Lemonds of Social Circle, Jennifer and Jason Needham of Jersey; mother Dorothy Lemonds of Social Circle; sister and brother-in-law Glenda and Tom Lewis of Monticello; grandchildren Jessica Lemonds, John Cwiek, and Pressley Needham, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 11 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Hammonds and the Rev. Thomas Ghann officiating. The eulogy was given by friends, Tommy Clack and Stan Mauldin. Interment followed at Social Circle City Cemetery.
