James Edward Onica, 72, of Madison died December 21, 2008 in Cherokee County. He was born November 6, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Bernice Huff Onica. He worked for Ford Motor Company for many years. He and his wife Nell Smith Onica have lived in Madison for 21 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Center.

Mr. Onica is survived by his wife, Nell Onica and a daughter, Michelle Hight and Jack of Ball Ground and a step-son, Bobby McConnell and Mary of Lithia Springs; three grandchildren, Megan Hight, Bobby McConnell Jr. and Tammy Matyas; four great-grandchildren and a brother, John Onica Jr, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Friday, December 26 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. The funeral service was held December 27 at Cornerstone Christian Center at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Madison Memorial Park. Rev. Russell Cash officiated at the service.

A.E. Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
