The thrill of victory . . . the agony of defeat. Those poor, poor Three Amigos were flat cryin’ in their chili at Saturday’s 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off  ‘cause Hot Off The Presses took their ding dang titles for First Place and People’s Choice! Yeehaw! I reckon those Amigos need to pack it up and try another competition like the Rattlesnake Roundup in beautiful Opp, Alabama! I can flat hear those ole snakes just a hissin’ as we speak!  Anyway, our big oleCook-Off trophy is being displayed right smack here at the Morgan County Citizen on Main Street in downtown Madison! Y’all come on over here and check it out and re-up your subscription to the Citizen and to Lake Oconee Living magazine while you’re at it!

Hey and speakin’ of winners, Joseph’s Coat Thrift Store, located at 1601 Athens Highway in Madison across from Youngblood’s, is hostin’ a fund raisin’ raffle for a brand spankin’ new Zaxby’s Go-cart car! Honey, your youngins will flat flip if you win this thing! It’s got a 5.5 horsepower gasoline engine that’s never been cranked! Ok so here are the details: Tickets are $10 a piece and they’re bein’ sold until Oct. 31! The drawin’ will be held Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Joseph’s Coat, but you don’t have to be present to win! Tickets can be purchased at Joseph’s Coat so y’all get on by there, buy a ticket and check out the merchandise! Joseph’s Coat is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Oh and y’all can give ‘em a call at 706-342-0444 for more info!

Hair Spray. Honey a new hair salon is open in Morgan County! Jessica L. Wood has just opened Southern Hair Design in Madison on the square at 298 Hancock Street next to the Morgan County Courthouse!  So anyway, this new salon is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jessica says no appointments are necessary! Men’s haircuts are only $15! Wow! Oh and Jessica offers special rates for police officers, firefighters and members of the military! Southern Hair Design uses brands like Matrix for color and perms! For everything else, she’ll have  Matrix, Redken, Redken for Men, Keune, Kenra, Pravana and Grund! Ok so the deal is this: Jessica was trained in Las Vegas and in Atlanta! The best part is that she flat grew up in Morgan County and graduated from high school right smack here! Y’all go by or call Jessica at Southern Hair Design today at 706-342-7311! 

Ding dang! The Humane Society of Morgan County is hostin’ “Howl-O-Ween” 2008! Honey, they want you to dress up your pet for a Costume Pet Parade and Halloween Festival on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.!  Ok so the Parade begins at 2 p.m. and concludes at the Madison Methodist Church on the grass lot between Burnett and Reese Streets in downtown Madison! The Festival starts immediately after the parade for games, prizes and costume contests! Oh and the annual $10,000 Raffle Tickets will go on sale at the Festival! Parade registration forms are available at www.humanesocietyofmorgancounty.org ! Y’all check it out!
