Varsity Vball season record moves to 7-7

With one week remaining until the Morgan County High School Lady Dogs varsity volleyball team enter region competition, three losses last week evened their record  to  7-7 on the season.

On Tuesday, September 9, the Lady Dogs traveled to Greenbriar High School for two matches against Greenbriar and Aquinas.
Greenbriar took the first match with game scores of 25-6 and 25-9.

Morgan then fell to Aquinas in a three game match. Game one was won by Morgan 25-22. Game two was won by Aquanis 25-12. Aquinas captured the victory with a game three win by a score of 25-17.

Then, on Thursday, September 11, Morgan traveled to Apalachee High School to face Apalachee and Rockdale.

Morgan took the first match with a tie break victory over Apalachee, only to loss their next match to Rockdale by scores scores of 25-16 and 25-17.

“Against Apalachee, we learned how to play under control,” Head Coach Pam Hooten said. “We are heading into the tough part of the season. We need to go in ready to play.”

The Lady Dogs JV squad captured victory in both of their matches againts Apalachee and Rockdale.

“We are improving,” JV Head Coach Tanya Gibbons said. “The main thing was gitting the rotation down, and we got that. Now we have to work on what volleyball is really about.”
