More from the Springs
By Willie Ann Johnson
Again I’ll say what about this uncertain weather we are having? In Webster dictionary it states uncertain means unpredictable as the outcome so we’ll see what will come from the one who is in charge of all things.
This week’s news will give the highlights of our Women’s Conference at the Springs, which was held on Friday evening and Saturday morning. What a time we had. If you’re not attended a women’s conference you should try to make plans to attend one. On Friday evening the church was full even our college students were here in our mist. Sis. Kathy Hubbard started out with scripture from Matthew 8: 18-27. The text “Follow Jesus and stop putting Him on hold.” To follow Jesus there are something you’re going to have to stop doing. You can’t reach the level Jesus wants to put you in if you are not willing to give up some of the things that you know is not pleasing to Him and only you know what they are. Some of us are only worrying about pleasing self and putting God on hold wanting Him to wait on you, but it doesn’t work like that. Stop being full of excuses and putting the brakes on Jesus. It is not going to be easy when you follow Jesus. There are many things that will come to you and tempt you but be of good courage and have faith in Jesus to by pass all the things that Satan offers you. Praise God. Thank you Sis. Kathy for a job well done.
Jesus is looking for his followers to be committed to Him and not the world. When you detour to another road you are in danger. Find your purpose in the Lord and continue to pray, fast and meditate on His word day and night and you will find your purpose in Him and when you find it you need to continue to pray, testify and intercede for others. God wants to help you and there is hope. He is a God of forgiveness. Sis. Kathy it’s amazing how the Holy Spirit took control of you. You might as well accept your calling. Praise the Lord. I forgot to mention Sis. Toni Terrell and Sis. Kathy Hubbard were in charge of the conference.
On Saturday morning again we had a full house. Praise God for our visitors who came to fellowship with us each night. Sis. Toni spoke from Psalm 139: 17 and Psalm 140: 1: 13. Text “Repentance.” This is a scripture for the enemies. When we repent we are sorry for what we have done and we are not to go back to that sin again. We must first realize how much God loves us. We need to know we are precious to God; let us be encouraged to know that God knows all about us. We should not be ashamed to surrender to Him. God wants us to have joy but there are some people who are never happy and try to make the person they see happy unhappy. God does not want us to be that way. When God begins to draw nearer to you it is because He knows about you and your life seeing if you are really serving Him. If you are you will have the victory. As our conference drew to a close we want to thank all our visitors, evangelists and preachers for coming out to be with us. Sis. Toni and Sis. Kathy we are praying for another women’s conference next year if it is the Lord’s will. Thanks for a job well done. Before we adjourned we had a bountiful lunch and fellowship together.
On Sunday the weather was cold and windy but after all it was a beautiful day. On Saturday our pastor and deacons visited the sick and shut-ins and also did the Jail Ministry. Bro. McKinley brought words of inspiration to the inmates. I was told he was awesome. Stay in the Word McKinley God is using you to move you to another level.
Our pastor’s text came from Luke 17: 15-19, “From healed to whole!” There is a difference in healed and whole. You can be healed and not whole. When you are healed you can easily go back to some of the things you used to do but when you become whole you will not go back because you are sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. Praise the Lord. You can go to church every Sunday and listen to the Word but if you do not put it into action you are not healed. You must repent and do thus said the Lord and be whole. You can’t continue to live in sin and feel our Savior’s love. You have got to be right. If you are luke warm God will spew you out. You can’t serve God on Sunday and think He will give you all the blessings you asked Him for. You have got to be sincere with God. He is not a toy to play with. Continue to read this scripture and see what will happen if you are not whole in God’s sight. Be healed and whole. Thank you Jesus.
I enjoyed my granddaughter Mone't and Janya last week although they were sick by the time Lisa and Alan got back from Las Vegas they were doing much better. What a job to look after a sick eight-month-old baby. I made it with the help of Mone't, praise God. Continue to uplift Deacon Moses Hill Sr. and Ervin Evans in your prayers. Happy birthday wishes go out to Evangelist Lizzie Stokes.
Keep all sick shut-ins and bereaved in your thoughts and prayers.
Thought for the week: “But even more blesses are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” Luke 11:28
