Anna Mallard Lawton

Anna “Anne” Mallard Lawton, 88, of Madison died Thursday, April 3, 2008. She was born Anna Mallard on July 2, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio to John L. Mallard and Virginia Ebbert Mallard. She was married to Alfred C. Lawton who preceded her in death. They lived much of their married life in Winter Park, Florida, where Mrs. Lawton worked in the public school system as a secretary.
The Lawtons moved to Madison in 1990 to be near their daughter and grandsons. While here Mrs. Lawton became active in the Prime Timers and was a member of the Boxwood Garden Club. She was a great cook and enjoyed times spent visiting with good friends and her family.
She is survived by her daughter Brillo Jackson and Hoyt and two grandsons, Parker Jackson and Patrick Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Edith Mallard and DeLoris Mallard, and many friends
A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at Madison Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Madison Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Young Life, P. O. Box 1282, Madison, GA 30650.

Lee Hansel Minish

Lee Hansel Minish, 83, died Friday, April 4, 2008. He was born January 14, 1925 to Robert Lee and Claudia Inez Williams Minish in Jackson County. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death. He was a tractor-trailer driver for 40 years with Seaboard and Central Soya where, due to health problems, he retired in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley Minish of the home, six daughters and two sons. Children include Jimmie Hulsey and husband Ronnie of Buford with two grandsons and three great-grandchildren, Jean Crumley of Commerce with three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; Brenda Barning of Braselton with two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Jackie Griffith and husband Tommy of Homer with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Jerrell Minish and wife Michelle of Athens with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Minish of Nicholson with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Connie Archer and husband Mickey of Nicholson with four grandsons, Vickie Kittle of Loganville and fiancée Chris with two grandchildren; stepson, Greg Self and wife Kay of Madison with one grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at Nicholson Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Interment was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home of Commerce was in charge of arrangements.
