Centennial group treks to Mississippi on mission trip

By Margie Ward

On Sunday morning attendance seemed to be down, we know of some members out due to sickness. We pray they will be better soon and those traveling our prayers are they will have a safe trip. We were blessed to have some visitors with us and hope they were blessed also by being with us today and everyone will be back with us next week.
The call to worship “We have come into His House,” by the choir; special music “Under His Feet” by Ricky and Lisa Hicks. Bro. Ron’s message “Zeal for House of God,” using scriptures Ezra 7: 23. Deut. 7: 1-4, 12, 13, Deut. 28: 47-51, Haggai 1: 1-6. These scriptures relate to excuses, opposition, obedience or disobedience toward building for God. God wants His people to obey Him because they want to, not because they’re forced to. Haggai was a prophet, God’s man for the time, gave the people a promise and hope. When God wants something done He sees that the funds are there. Who are we to say it’s not time for God to do something. We need to seek God first and trust Him to provide.
On Sunday night at 6 p.m. a good attendance present. Special music was “At Calvary,” by Betty Mullins, Margie Ward, Ron Swann and Denny Pickett. Bro. Ron’s message, “Did Jesus have all Spiritual Gifts?” Yes.
On Sunday afternoon those going to Nurse Care for singing and visitation were James Harold and Ellen Smith, Denny and Patsy Pickett, Betty Mullins, Esther Atkinson, Christy Brown, Emma Vaughn, Ronald Atkinson, Toy Sims, Peggy Harper, Ashley and Howard Pickett.
Next Sunday morning during the worship service Denny and Patsy Pickett will have a slide presentation and share with us about their mission trip to Haiti. You may want to make plans to come see and hear this.
On Saturday morning, April 19 the Women’s Garden Brunch will be held at the home of Barbara Sims at 10 a.m.
The Morgan County Association VBS Clinics will be Thursday night, April 12 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Brownwood Baptist. All VBS workers need to be present.
Those visiting Jodie Harrison and Ann Harrison during the week were Cindy Bone, Sandra Aderhold, Myrthlene Astin, Peyton, Eric and Anna Ulrich, Carrie Knight, Sarah Wood, Jerry Studdard and Margie Ward.
On Tuesday night Julie Phillips, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Zach Wood had supper with Margie Ward.
Last week a group from Centennial went on a mission trip to Mississippi to complete some work on homes there that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Let's all continue to pray for the folks there as they rebuild their homes and lives.
