Lady Pup track tops rivals

The Morgan County Middle School girls track team picked up a big victory Wednesday in Madison, coming out on top of a four-team meet.
It was the second time in two meets this season that the Lady Pups topped the opponents.
The Lady Pups won with a score of 94. This put them well ahead of Carver's 45 points, Social Circle's 33 and Carson's 32.
Rebecca Stinson placed first in the long and triple jumps, with measurements of 12 feet and five inches and 26 feet and two inches, respectively.
Rebecca Webb finished first in the 3200 meters with a time of 16:58.
Latoya Williams took first in the 100 meters with a time of 14.5 seconds. Deshonta Pilcher won the 100 meters low hurdles with a time of 20.9 seconds. Renita Stinson won first in the 800 meters with a time of 3:07.
The two 4X100 relay teams placed first and third with times of 56.7 seconds and 58.53 seconds. The Lady Pups 4X400 relay took second with a time of 5:20.
Dee Pittman took second in the long and triple jumps for the Lady Pups. Hannah Hartney got second in the 800 meters. Jasmine Hyman took second in the 200 meters.
"With two months of training behind us, the girls are beginning to show strong improvements in their events," said Lady Pup Track Coach Marjean Meadow.
The middle school track teams have another meet on Wednesday, April 9 where they’ll host Social Circle, Greene and GMC.
They’ll participate in the Winder-Barrow Relays on Saturday, April 12.
The following Saturday the teams will host the Piedmont Athletic Conference Championship where they’ll welcome Carver, GMC, Greene, Jasper, Loganville and Social Circle. The conference tournament will cap off the season for teams in the league.
