The Morgan County High School track teams opened up their regular season on Thursday when they hosted Salem and Ola for a tough match-up.
Highlighting the effort for the Dogs was their 4 X 100 team, made up of C.J Benford, Ernest Reid, Terrence Greene and Marnez Walker, that won their part of the competition.
The Dogs also dominated shot put action with Jarvis and Morton Williams taking first and second place, respectively.
Dogs Head Coach Charlemagne Gibbons said the team looked good in their first outing, despite Salem and Ola edging the boys and girls teams on points.
Gibbons said Sarah Mullins, Regginque Stinson and Shanae Boswell looked impressive for the Lady Dogs in the competition. Chris Clyde looked good for the boys, he said.
The season is just getting started and Gibbons said they are using this part of the year to get ready for region action.
"The only thing that matters is region play," he said.
The teams hosted Putnam on Tuesday. They travel to Washington-Wilkes on Thursday.
