The soccer Pups ran into a powerhouse Malcom Bridge team last Wednesday in Madison and came up on the short end of things, falling 5-0 to a team that went undefeated last season.
"They were a well-coached and well-organized team," said Pups Head Coach Mike House. "It's kind of tough starting out against such a tough opponent."
House said he's still optimistic about his team.
"We had a great overall effort," he said. "But I'd like to see more emphasis on the offensive end focusing on our ball movement."
Despite the loss, Frank DuBose was able to get a pair of scoring opportunities which House highlighted as bright spots for his team. He said he was also particularily pleased with the play of Charlie MacDrury.
"With the group of guys we have, I see we have a good core group of guys that understand the game," House said. "We have high expectations for this year's team."
The team will have a chance to turn things around Wednesday when they visit Oglethorpe. Friday they'll be back home for a match-up with St. Joseph's.
