Please keep the Brownwood Clothes Closet in mind
By Margie Ward
On Sunday morning a very good attendance was present with visitors. Our prayers are they received a blessing and will come and be with us at anytime. The call to worship was by the children’s choir. They sang “Awesome God,” and the “BIBLE”. They did a great job and we appreciate them. Patsy Pickett is their director. The choir special was “Our Lord’s Return Medley.”
Bro. Ron’s message, “Defense against Satan”, 1 Peter 5: 5-11. When we step out of God’s will we’re then a target for Satan; he likes to battle with the mind of God’s people. The more we try and do for Jesus the more we will come under the attack of Satan. The devil takes advantage of the hard times we have. If you’re not going through a battle in your life just watch out you will and Satan will be right there. But Jesus has authority over all, God of all grace. Peter says respect elders, be subject to them, clothe yourselves with humility toward others, it’s our responsibility. We should be humbled by the cross. Pride keeps us from forgiving We need to be humble under the mighty hand of God; He will exalt us, the Bible says cast all your care or anxiety upon God; we always have someone to go to, we can talk to God about everything. No matter what you’ve done or not done God cares for you. Trust Him today. He is our defense.
On Sunday night at 6 p.m. we had a called conference to discuss plans toward new pews, carpet etc. for the sanctuary. We will need to spend a lot of time in prayer and trust God to let us know when the time is right to do this; He’s always right on time.
Again, we ask everyone to keep in mind on Friday evening March 7, 6 to 10 p.m. the children will have a Rock-A-Thon to raise money for Annie Armstrong Home Missions.
Looking ahead to Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. the children will have an egg hunt at Brownwood. The adults are asked to start bringing candy-filled eggs in for this day.
Keep in mind the Brownwood Clothes Closet will be open each second and fourth Saturday of the month 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Don’t forget to come we may have the items of clothing that you need and they’re free.
Each third Sunday night at 6 p.m. Anthony Cottrell and the youth will be taking part in the service at Brownwood.
Julie and Billy Phillips visited Lauren Hopkins and Donald Cheatham in Athens on Monday afternoon.
