The JV Dogs soccer team started their season on a winning note last Tuesday picking up a 3-2 win over Jefferson.
The game was scoreless for the first 31 minutes until Dylan Davis scored on a Patrick Vernon assist to give the Dogs a 1-0 lead.
Leonel Mendoza scored an unassisted goal for the Dogs in the 38th minute to give them a 2-0 lead.
Jefferson finally got on the board 45 minutes into the game to cut the Morgan County lead to 2-1, but the Dogs responded with a Justin Rivers score on a header from Dylan Davis throw in 50 minutes into the game.
Jefferson did answer with one goal three minutes later, but they weren't able to pull off any late heroics against the Bulldogs.
Morgan County Coach Chip Meyer said he saw what he wanted to see from the team in last Tuesday's win.
"They're good, but they're a young bunch; mostly freshmen," Meyer said.
