“After all who wants to sound like a croaking frog?”

By Betty Moore

Great snakes alive! That’s what I said! My husband was crawling around in an open well house last week when he was almost eyeball to eyeball with a black snake. Needless to say it was quite a shock for both man and snake! The snake came out the loser. My daughter teased her daddy if he and the snake stuck their tongues out at each other? I don’t know. He gave no reply. It just goes to show that apparently snakes don’t get all into the ground or hid away like I would have thought for cold weather.
Becky Bonner and Hope and James Stinchcomb from Winder came to see Sara Nell Bonner on Saturday. They went to see Robert and Cathy Armistead at Madison.
The Swords United Methodist has one remaining Discipleship class. Come to take part in it next Sunday at 6 p.m.
The Buckhead Baptist Church is having a Sweetheart banquet on February 23.
The Lake Oconee Baptist will have a Valentine Banquet on February 16 at the Church Fellowship hall. It will be catered.
John and Gail Wade enjoyed their trip to Savannah with children, grandchildren, a sister and other family members. They knew about some that worked at the sugar factory that exploded last week.
Nine year old Claire Coberly recently wrote a music composition. She was awarded by the Chick Piano Company. Needless to say her grandmother and family are very proud of Claire. Gail Wade the grandmother is very talented on the piano herself. Congratulations Claire!
I send birthday greetings to Hallie Hickman on the 11. To all of us that have known her for many years. We all call her Eleanor. I’ve known her over 40 years.
The Sons of Jubal sang at the Mars Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday night. John Wade is a member of the group.
There has been much sickness in our area. I was told that Rachel Thurmond is on the sick list. I hope that each of you will soon be better. Beverly Bentley has been sick with the congestion that has gone on. I have bronchitis. I didn’t get everybody called. When your throat feels scrubby you don’t want to talk too much. After all who wants to sound like a croaking frog?
I mentioned earlier about the snake that my husband encountered. I remember that one day recently a big fat mosquito landed on my arm. And it was not an especially warm day. If that is an indication there might be a mosquito problem in the summer. We need to check for standing water but we know of none.
Save your news for me for next week. Hopefully I will be well by then.
