Morgan County authorities are searching for a man suspected of attempting to abduct a child last week.
According to Lt. Dave Lord, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call from a Cajun Lane, Rutledge, resident who reported that she heard her three–year–old daughter scream from the front porch. The mother said that when she ran to the porch, her daughter said a man had attempted to take the child into the woods near the woman’s home.
Lord said the child told her mother that the man “grabbed my shirt.”
The man was described as an African–American, wearing a purple shirt and black trousers. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on February 5.
Cajun Lane is located in the Rutledge area off of Centennial Road.
Lord said officers responded to the 911 call within minutes and searched the woods and areas bordering the house for hours but found no physical evidence or a suspect.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office also sent a reverse 911 call to residents near Cajun Lane alerting them to the abduction attempt and requesting information.
“We wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again,”said Lord.
