After going undefeated in league duals during the course of the year, the Mat Pups won their area tournament on Saturday in Madison.
"The tournament went very well," said Mat Pup Head Coach Evan Goff. "We had a lot of our guys place and many who beat kids they had lost to earlier in the year."
Despite forfeiting four weight classes throughout the course of the year the team was still able to run their table in league play.
"I couldn't have had a better group of guys," Goff said. "I also want to give a big thanks to all of our wrestling sponsors and parents who made this season a success."
The team won the tourney over opponents Loganville, Youth, Social Circle  and Carver.
First place finishers for the Mat Pups were James Bearden at 85 pounds, Carter Shultz at 103 pounds and Stewart Spence at 125.
Coming in second Saturday were Kyle Craft at 75 pounds, Sam Trammell at 95, A.K. Shue at 110, Grayson Segrest at 118, Benjamin Scoggin at 140 and Dakota Shelton at 185. The team had several other wrestlers place third or fourth.
"The foundation has been laid for these guys and I expect to see continued improvement over the next few years," said Goff.
