A brief altercation at Walmart led to the arrest of four out-of-town men who now face counterfeiting and drug charges that may spark the interest of the United States Secret Service.
According to Sgt. Colin Campbell, Madison Police Department, the four men were arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. in a vehicle near the Walmart parking lot after they allegedly attempted to purchase more than $300 worth of merchandise with counterfeit $100 bills.
Campbell said the men presented three counterfeit $100 bills and legitimate $20 bills to a cashier. The cashier notified management and, when one of the suspects, Kilmar Bostick, 29, Snellville, noticed that management was approaching, he allegedly snatched two counterfeit $100 bills from the cashier’s hand and fled the store.
All four men were later stopped – by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Derrick Reid and Campbell – driving a black SUV moments after the men fled the store. At the time of the stop, Campbell said, Bostick exited the vehicle waving two counterfeit $100 bills and stating that he had been “defrauded” and he possessed “bad money.”
Campbell said a search of the vehicle found eight counterfeit $100 bills in a headliner of the vehicle. The bills, Campbell said, were $5 bills that had been bleached clean and reprinted. Six of the bills had the same serial number and two of the other $100 bills had the same serial number.
Campbell said officers also located several small bags of suspected marijuana and two larger bags of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.
All four men were charged with 11 counts of first degree forgery, one count each of possession of marijuana with then intent to distribute, and one count each of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in a commercial drug-free zone.
Campbell said bond has been denied for all four suspects and that the Madison Police Department has been in contact with the United States Secret Service regarding the origins of the counterfeit bills.
Arrested in the incident and charged are: Quintavis Denoris Floyd, 22, Lithonia; Jarod Tarrell Bostick, 24, Atlanta; Kilmar Bostick; and Tracey Tauran Sherten, 24, Decatur, Ga.
